Delivering

Ok, it wasn't nine months, but the delivery date is Thanksgiving. Probably could have worked on it for another year or so...but here it is.

Nice job and congratulations, Deborah. It look fabulous, very skillfully done. I like the yellow background, doesn't vibrate as much as the orange. What is the size of this piece and what is the support. Would be interested to know what challenges you faced on this commission. Things you might do differently next time? Best. C

Thank you Candace! The painting is 18"x22" on linen canvas. It is a portrait grade linen, but has just enough texture to keep it interesting. About the challenges, it was the first portrait commission since working from life with Tony. Because a lot of the work was from photos, I found myself really missing working from a live model. They did sit for me a few times and that did help with skin tones, etc. The other challenges were having a background that wasn't real...how to have them be in the orange without looking too cut-out. I would also say that I would control the lighting in my studio a bit better when models were there and/or when I was taking photographs.
Thanks again!

Beautiful work Deborah! What are you up to now? Will we ever see you around these parts again?

Krista, Sure hope to get up there in the near future. But so far, Alpine is keeping me pretty busy. Working on another commission which is due Christmas. No posts on this one, tho, it is a surprise for the client. When it is delivered, I'll get it out. Miss you!
