Is he as friendly as he looks? Like the setting and I love his turquoise and his saddle. The things that must make him; "him". Nice work Deb! (Was all work from life?) -M
Thanks! Yes, a very nice gentleman. Teaches biology at Denton college, raises horses and is a grandfather. I took the photos, did two sketches from life and then the rest was studio work. (shhhh, don't tell the Ryder Studio) It was great fun to put in all of the extras, plus a great face to work on!
After studying with Tony Ryder at the Ryder Studio in Santa Fe, NM I have found myself completely drawn to the mystique of the human face. I still love landscapes and still life work, but there is a tremendous joy in working with a live model.
Painting since 1994, full time since 2000, I have studied in the US, France and England. Portraiture studies have been with Perrin Sparks of Texas and Anthony Ryder of Santa Fe, NM. I am now working with my mentor, Jennifer Welty of CA.
