We are back in Alpine, TX and I have started a still life painting. Above is the poster study. Anxious to see what happens to my work outside of class.
Is that a piggy bank?! Cool! John and I are taking a break here at the studio, and he says your poster "looks SO 3-dimensional". I tend to agree that it has lots of depth. Can't wait to see more!
After studying with Tony Ryder at the Ryder Studio in Santa Fe, NM I have found myself completely drawn to the mystique of the human face. I still love landscapes and still life work, but there is a tremendous joy in working with a live model.
Painting since 1994, full time since 2000, I have studied in the US, France and England. Portraiture studies have been with Perrin Sparks of Texas and Anthony Ryder of Santa Fe, NM. I am now working with my mentor, Jennifer Welty of CA.

Thanks! Yes, it is a piggy bank! kind of a strange set up, tho. Very strange not to be in class, but at least getting a little painting done.
Deborah, I like how juicy and thick the brushstrokes are in your study. I'll be watching to see the formal painting. Really enjoy your blog.
