This piece was done very loosely and with the intention of capturing the sparkle in the silver and the warmth of the table. Oh and if I could pass on the fragrance of the freesia..... 12x12" oil on linen
Thanks Candace! I'll probably go back and forth on looseness. I enjoy both the more controlled painting and the more painterly. Just multiple personalities, I guess.
After studying with Tony Ryder at the Ryder Studio in Santa Fe, NM I have found myself completely drawn to the mystique of the human face. I still love landscapes and still life work, but there is a tremendous joy in working with a live model.
Painting since 1994, full time since 2000, I have studied in the US, France and England. Portraiture studies have been with Perrin Sparks of Texas and Anthony Ryder of Santa Fe, NM. I am now working with my mentor, Jennifer Welty of CA.

Gorgeous, Deborah. All-around success. I think the loose style suits you. Best, Candace
